Kate joined Magic Me as Programme Director in September 2016.
Previously at the Royal Opera House in the role of Learning and Participation Manager (Opera), Kate produced and managed a wide portfolio of work engaging young people, families, schools and communities with singing and opera. Highlights included spearheading the highly popular ‘Family Sundays’ events; developing ‘All Together Opera’, a 3 year singing and wellbeing project for over 65s; co-creating a new teacher training programme for Primary Schools ‘Create and Sing Carmen’ featuring digital resources for schools; and commissioning and producing new work through the Youth Opera Company talent development strand.
Kate found her love of working with people and the arts during her time at York University where she graduated with a BA in Music and MA in Community Music. During her time in York she volunteered with community arts organisations and worked as Music Director of York Voices Choir, before moving to London to work for arts charities Create and Hackney Music Development Trust.
Previously on the Board of Trustees at Drake Music and Girls Rock London, Kate is passionate about the power the arts has to bring people and communities together, to change perceptions and to empower.2
