Connecting generations through the arts

Magic Me is a leader in the delivery of intergenerational arts activities. We connect 7–18 year olds with older neighbours (55+) to build resilient, integrated communities across Tower Hamlets, London, and Essex.

Impactful community projects in East London

Featuring everything from parades to poetry books, filmmaking to carnivals, 50 foot murals to finger puppets, our community arts projects take place in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets where we’re based. We work in partnership with local schools, sheltered housing providers and other community hubs to create projects which connect 7-18 year olds with older neighbours aged 55+. Our Associate Artists who help shape the projects are expert community arts facilitators with a lively range of creative specialisms. What Tower Hamlets lacks in resources (1 in 2 children live in poverty here, and 40% of older people receive pension credit), it makes up for in vibrancy and diversity. Our projects are designed so every participant – young or old, artistically experienced or just beginning – can tell the stories that matter to them and their communities.

We co-design our projects with partners and participants so we know that they are focussing on the real concerns and interests of the community. That way, our events, workshops, artworks and performances have the power to reach the widest and most connected audience.

Two women in care home

Creative connection and training for care homes

From our earliest days, we have worked directly in care homes on projects which bring creative connection to residents and offer specialised training to care home staff so they can embed every day arts in care home life. Our current care home project is Spark which brings sensory and creative activities to care homes in East London, Essex and beyond.

Support our work

We bring intergenerational arts projects to 2-3,000 people every year. Help us to continue our work by making a donation.
