In My Name – free workshops

Share

This is how much fun it is to take part in a Magic Me project!

Our new women’s project, In My Name, brings together students from Mulberry School for Girls with older women from the local community.  Working with theatre-maker Sue Mayo and visual artist Mia Harris they have begun to explore the names we give ourselves.

Catherine Connell our Project Manager for this work says:

In our first session we considered ‘power’ – sharing stories of times we have felt powerful, creating tableaux and having lots of fun with costume and objects that make us feel powerful. As we delve deeper the theme will be shaped by the experiences brought forward by the women in the group and the direction of the project will develop in response to what feels important to them. We are really looking forward to seeing what happens!”

With this project we are inviting anyone who identifies as a woman or girl to get involved and add their thoughts to our creative mix.

Booking is now open to the public for free workshops with Sue & Mia where participants can make their very own ‘necklace of declaration’ alongside a statement of the many names that make them feel good.

All the workshops are free but booking is necessary
