Exploring connection, creativity and belonging across generations.
Creative Mix is an intergenerational project bringing together sixth form students from Mulberry UTC and older adults in Tower Hamlets for regular creative workshops. In its second year, the group explored the theme of belonging through poetry, printmaking, and movement, guided by Associate Artists Arji Manuelpillai and Ruan Murphy, with guest sessions led by choreographer Charlene Low.
From November 2024 to June 2025, the group met regularly to build relationships, try new creative techniques, and share stories. Together they wrote poems, created prints, drew portraits with sticks, imagined personal islands, and uncovered shared interests—especially around food.
The programme culminated in a joyful public exhibition at St. Margaret’s House Chapel in June 2025, celebrating the artworks, words and ideas developed throughout the year.
Creative Mix is a space for connection, conversation and co-creation—celebrating what different generations can learn from one another through art.

Creative Mix will return in the Autumn for a new year of making. If you are aged 50+ and a resident of Tower Hamlets interested in getting in involved please call 020 3222 6064 or email info@magicme.co.uk
