About the Artworks Trainee Programme
Artworks is a training Programme that has been running at Magic Me since 2020 for those aged 18 –30. The programme supports young adults to gain knowledge, skills and confidence to access a career in the arts.
For the first time, Magic Me is extending this opportunity to young adults living in the neighbouring boroughs of Hackney, Newham and Waltham Forest as well as Tower Hamlets. The Traineeship offers practical skills and experience supporting creative projects in your community through on-the-job training. Between January – May 2024, you will have the chance to work alongside artists and staff on our new project Creative Mix – a project bringing together older adults from local sheltered housing schemes and young people from a Secondary School.
Here are some quotes from previous Trainees about their experience working on community arts projects:
“I learned both very hands-on practical skills, and learned more about myself as an individual, my strengths and shortcomings and how I can make those shortcomings strengths.”
– Yasmin (June – July 2023)
“I really discovered my passions and dislikes and I’m grateful for the doors it’s opened for me, it’s really given me that head start I needed for my journey in the arts.”
– Nazifa (2020)
“Working with the team, the Project Manager, participants, artists and two other trainees has made a huge difference in my life… They have given me happiness in my gloomy days, professional experience and a chance to develop new skills within the Arts industry, which before I had struggled to progress with, in my career.”
– Isobel (January – July 2023)
