Roaring into March
March sees many of our homes hosting Roaring 20s themed parties encouraging volunteers and residents to dress up in their glitziest outfits for a Great Gatsby inspired evening of cocktails, music and fun. We will also continue to host musicians from the Royal Academy of Music’s Open Academy programme – providing quite a contrast with classical music mini-recitals.
Farewell Pat Shaw
It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to the wonderful residents and staff of Pat Shaw House in Stepney Green, due to the care home’s closure later this year. Our last party took place on Weds 7th March with an amazing group of 15 volunteers joining to say goodbye to residents. Pat Shaw House is very special to the Cocktails in Care Home Project, as we have hosted parties here since the very beginning of the project in 2011. Party managers Chris and Shona have been throwing the parties there for several years.
Good news though is that we will be starting a new party at nearby Hawthorn Green in Stepney from 4th April. There are also parties at Westport Care Centre and Silk Court nearby.
Would you like to be a party manager?
We are looking for new Party Managers to join our team of Cocktails Volunteers!
Do you like hosting parties? We are looking for creative people to join our Party Manager’s team hosting one party per month in their local area! Party managers liaise with the Magic Me office and the care home staff to plan parties, organising food, themes, drinks and the decorations. They make sure that everything runs smoothly from the moment the bunting goes up to last orders! During the day, our current team are graphic designers, lawyers, archivists and run boutique PR agencies, but at Cocktails in Care Homes they are superstar mixologists and social butterflies! We are currently looking for Party managers at our parties in Peckham, Shepherd’s Bush, Swiss Cottage and more as the Cocktails project moves into new homes across London in 2018. Please visit our ‘Meet our Party Managers’ page to find out more!
