Reflections of Stepney
This intergenerational group have explored the theme of ‘reflection’, notions of identity and how identity is formed. The group have written their own version of the Narcissus story, from Greek Mythology, using music, storytelling and drawing.
Outside In brought together children from Clara Grant Primary School with older people in the local community, at the Linc Centre.
Passing Notes brought together children from Osmani Primary School with residents from John Sinclair Court, managed by One Housing.
Decorum is a series of projects by intergenerational arts charity Magic Me. The projects seek to explore what ‘good behaviour’ means for women in the 21st Century. In 2018 we have had 3 projects looking at this topic, in London, Southend and Peterborough. Each group, made up of school age girls and older women from the community, made a film (or films) as part of their work. We are now inviting you to get involved..
Stepney Stories brought together children from John Scurr Primary School, Tower Hamlets with residents from Hawthorn Green Care Home, Tower Hamlets in Autumn 2017.
Local older people from Tower Hamlets (linked to the Bromley-by-Bow Centre and the Fern Street Settlement) worked with pupils from Clara Grant Primary School and Old Palace Primary School in 2016 to create an original performance about life's journeys, migration and transitions.
Frames of Brick Lane
A group of twelve older people living in the Brick Lane area and twelve year 3 pupils from Christ Church C of E Primary School, Brick Lane worked together in to create a series of large scale paintings, Frames of Brick Lane, exploring the living history of the local area which were exhibited in 2015.
