Flourishing Lives Participant
We have designed and delivered training days and workshops for artists, teachers, community development workers, care home activities organisers and manager everywhere from Suffolk to Singapore, Basildon to Brazil – (where our Director Susan Langford and Associate Artist Sue Mayo ran a week of training on intergenerational arts as part the British Council’s post-2012 legacy work.)

Commissioned Projects
Magic Me has worked with local authorities, housing associations, care providers and others to deliver contracted or commissioned projects, large and small. Here are a few current and recent examples:
Essex County Council
In 2016 Susan Langford, our Director was commissioned to support the setting up and delivery of the Creative Journeys project, run by Essex County Council with Anglia Ruskin University and funded through Arts Council England. She ran a training day for artists from across Essex and co-led the recruitment and selection process to choose two artists for an intergenerational project in Rochford. She then mentored artists Emma Curtis and Jane Gull as they designed and delivered a term long project Party Time. More information on the project can be found here.
Susan worked with the Essex Cultural Development team who were keen to create a new programme with Magic Me, bringing artists into care homes in 2018/19 onwards. This was realised in our new Artists’ Residencies in Care Homes project. In addition she ran four training days for care home Activities Organisers across the county, on ways to use the arts and intergenerational activity to enhance quality of life for older people.
Tower Hamlets Action on Loneliness
Public Health Tower Hamlets commissioned Magic Me to run this year-long volunteering project to combat social isolation and loneliness amongst older people living in six care homes across the Borough. Find out more here
Jewish Care Portraits of a Dream
This photography project was commissioned to launch a new building on a care home site in north London. Magic Me artists worked with residents, staff and young adult volunteers to create a series of large portraits to hang in public areas of the building. Find out more about this project here.
