Commissioning a project

We accept commissions – to design and deliver a complete project, or to provide expertise to help an existing team to help set up and run intergenerational work.  Here are some examples of projects we have set up, managed and facilitated:

For the London Borough of Lambeth, Magic Me ran an intergenerational arts project at Myatt’s Fields Park, part of an extensive regeneration programme. Local school pupils and residents aged 50+ explored the changing face and use of the park since 1948. Using photography, visual arts and poetry they created beautiful banners to decorate the bandstand.

The City of London Safer City Partnership commissioned Magic Me to design and run activities to bring together young and older people living in the Golden Lanes Estate area. The aim was to ease reported tensions between generations in an area with limited outdoor play space.

In Ireland, Magic Me teamed up with Sligo Arts and local artists, commissioned by the Bealtaine Festival. The project deliberately encouraged community building between older Irish people and younger generations from new migrant communities. The project piloted a model of distance coaching and support applicable to many situations and settings.

Training

Our staff and senior artists can provide training to suit your organisation’s needs – whether you are just getting started on intergenerational arts, or have many years of experience but would relish some fresh ideas.

We have designed and delivered training days and workshops for artists, teachers, community development workers, activities organisers, local authority and care home workers everywhere from Suffolk to Swansea, Basildon to Brazil – (where our Director Susan Langford and Associate Artist Sue Mayo ran a week of training on intergenerational arts as part the British Council’s post-2012 legacy work.)

Contact the Magic Me office via info@magicme.co.uk or on 0203 222 6063 to find out more about booking some training.

“A highly stimulating, thought-provoking and useful day. Heartening to feel that our work was on the right track and corroborated, as it were. But also new ideas popped up, other ways of working that could be useful in developing our intergenerational work further.” Artist

Conferences

We can provide a keynote speech, a workshop or an exercise for the whole conference, to get people thinking in a new way. Key staff have contributed to national events for intergenerational specialists, for local authorities and for professionals in housing and care for older people.

Our expertise has taken us as far afield as Poland where our Director, Susan Langford and Programme Director Charlotte O’Dair led workshops for older people from the University of the 3rd Age Poland; and to Spain where Susan led the arts component of an intergenerational course at the University of Granada.

Contact the Magic Me office via info@magicme.co.uk or on 0203 222 6063 to find out more about booking a member of our team to speak at your conference or event.
